1. JR Hakuba Station | Depart at 11:40
At JR Hakuba Station, which is crowded during the Obon holidays in August, the temperature exceeds 30℃, even though the place is a summer resort.
“Hakuba Happo Pottering (bicycle walks) ” course in this time is a simple 9.2km tour of the city of Hakuba by bicycle, and is also recommended for pottering (walking by bicycle) between sightseeing trips.
The time is 11:40. Let’s take a rental cycle and leave JR Hakuba Station.
First, we head north on Route 148 toward Matsukawa Bridge. With a group of cyclists.
2. Matsukawa Bridge | Arrive at 11:45
We arrived at Matsukawa Bridge about 1km from JR Hakuba Station.
Matsukawa Bridge is a spot where you can see the beautiful Northern Japan Alps.
3. Matsukawa River Road | Arrive at 11:50
If you turn left at the intersection just ahead of Matsukawa Bridge, the Matsukawa River Road is just around the corner.
The Matsukawa River Road is wide and comfortable, with almost no cars passing through it.
The uphill slope continues for about 2km, but if you run while looking at the Northern Japan Alps approaching in front of you, you will not feel it for a long time.
You can enjoy such a superb view depending on the season.
4. Hakuba Ohashi Bridge | Arrive at 12:00
Hakuba Ohashi Bridge is about 2km upstream from the Matsukawa River Road.
Like Matsukawa Bridge, it is the most famous spot in the village as a spot where you can see the Northern Japan Alps beautifully.
You can also enjoy various spectacular views depending on the season.
Since this day was in the Obon holiday period, many families enjoyed playing in the river.
5. Nire Pond | Arrive at 12:10
“Nire Pond” with beautiful emerald green is a managed fishing spot.
It is a playground that anyone can enjoy, mainly fishing, and there is also a barbecue area where families can enjoy.
It’s good to have a barbecue for lunch, but on this day We decided to go to the soba restaurant “Ringoya(Buckwheat Noodle Shop)” where people line up because of its delicious taste.
6. Ringoya(Buckwheat Noodle Shop) | Arrive at 12:15
The specialty of Hakuba Village is soba.
“Ringoya(Buckwheat Noodle Shop)” is one of famous soba restaurants in Hakuba Village.
The shop is open from 11:00 to 14:00 (last order at 13:30), but it may close early when the preparation is exhausted.
The special handmade soba noodles, bonito broth sauce, the “Oshibori soup” with spicy radish juice and miso, and the most popular “walnut sauce” at this restaurant.
I ordered “Soba Zanmai” for 1,550 yen to enjoy all of them.
The thin buckwheat is shining white. From the left, the “Oshibori soup”, the bonito broth sauce, and the rightmost is the walnut sauce. Everything is delicious!
Each has a different taste, so you can enjoy eating and comparing them. Personally, I liked “Oshibori soup” the most.
After enjoying the famous soba noodles, cycle through the streets of Hakuba Village to “Shimofurinomiya Hosono Suwa Shrine”.
7. Shimofurinomiya Hosono Suwa Shrine | Arrive at 13:05
The hot spring town is small, so it is recommended to take a walk around the city.
Turn right at the hot spring town and you will see “Shimofurinomiya Hosono Suwa Shrine” on your right.
Shimofurinomiya Hosono Suwa Shrine is a Suwa Shrine that is enshrined as a local god in this area.
It is registered as a designated cultural property of the village.
While The shade of the trees is cool in the precincts, the air has a solemn atmosphere.
The big cedar tree is very magnificent and eye-catching.
8. Hakuba Ski Jumping Stadium | Arrive at 13:15
Hakuba Ski Jumping Stadium is less than 1km from Suwa Shrine.
At the roundabout at the entrance of the jumping ground, there is also a signboard of Hakuba Komichi No. 23.
The jumping platform is bigger than I imagined and powerful!
The right hand is the large hill and the left hand is the normal hill.
As I was looking at the jumping platform, the sprinkler was activated and the artificial turf began to be watered.
While wondering what would start, the children started jumping from the sky!
Unfortunately I couldn’t shoot the jumping scene, but it was amazing!
Was it a practice of ski jumping?
This is a good opportunity, so let’s go up to the top of the jumping hill.
We will go up by the lift. The altitude will rise steadily.
Inside the start tower, there is also a gallery where medals from the time of the Olympic Games are displayed.
And here is the starting platform at a height of about 140m from the ground!
It is unbelievable to think that the children just flew from here.
You can feel a sense of openness here!
9. Cafe & Bar Lion | Arrive at 13:50
The altitude of Hakuba Ski Jumping Stadium is about 760m, and the altitude of JR Hakuba Station is about 700m, so you will have to go down the slope for about 3km to the station.
The “Cafe & Bar Lion” is between the two locations, and we will take a detour from the Happo-one Iriguchi intersection.
It is a cafe full of exoticism.
You can enjoy coffee with a mellow aroma using beans roasted in Hakuba.
At Hakuba Lion Adventure, which operates the cafe, you can enjoy various activities such as “hot air balloon experience”.
Please see here for more information.
Happo Information Center is right next to Cafe & Bar Lion, where you can get tourist information.
In addition, Nagomi-no-yu, which is a footbath Onsen, is recommended at “Happo no Yu (Onsen)” opposite the building!
