Wakayama:Kada-Wakaura-Marina City Sea Cycling, a day trip from Kansai

Wakayama, where I, from the Kansai region (Minami Osaka), used to go out to play with motorcycles and cars many times when I was in high school and college. For some reason, I had never been on a cycling trip, so I decided to try running a standard spot on a weekend on a day trip. This is a seaside cycling of about 37km.

From Nankai Train ‘ Kada Station ‘ to ‘ Awashima-jinja Shrine ‘

Kada, located in the northwest of Wakayama City, has a beautiful coastline facing the Kitan Strait and is a mecca for fishing such as one-tai (sea bream) fishing. The nearest station is ‘ Kada Station, ‘ the terminal of the Nankai Electric Railway’s Kata Line. From Nanba Station, it is about an hour and a half after transferring to Kada Line at Wakayama City Station on a limited express train.

If it runs about 2km from Kada Station, it will be Kata Port.

Awashima Shrine, located just near Kada Port

Awashima Shrine is said to be beneficial for women’s diseases, safe childbirth and childbirth, and has long earned the faith of women as a guardian deity for women. A number of hina dolls are placed in the vivid vermilion-lacquered shrine building.

I’ve been to Awashima-jinja Shrine several times, but I’ve never been there before, so I’ll go there.

If you drive about 3km along the coast, there was Takurasaki. The scenery is good, but the roads are not very well paved, so I cannot recommend this road.

Isonoura, popular with surfers

Approximately 6km from Kada Port, Isonoura is a swimming beach located at Nirigahama in Wakayama City.

Known as the nearest surfing beach between Keihanshin, I have come to surf many times during my high school days. It is also close to Nankai “Isonoura Station”, so I sometimes came by train until I got my car license.

The levee on the east side of this sandy beach (at the end of the picture). When the waves were pretty high, some people were entering the sea from this levee, but I’ve never been there before, so I decided to go there by bicycle for the first time.

There was a port beyond the levee.

This is the scene when you go up to the levee of the harbor. If you cross the pot, you’ll surely put it in the ocean right away.

“Lunch is Wakayama Ramen “”Chuka Soba”””

It’s almost time for lunch. Speaking of Wakayama, Chinese soba noodles.
“Among the numerous local ramen dishes, the long-established presence is “”Wakayama Ramen.””” It is common to call it “Chinese noodle” instead of “Wakayama Ramen” locally, but it is now recognized as “Wakayama Ramen” partly because it was introduced in various media.

“Today, the “”Marutaya Jiromaru Store,”” located about five kilometers east of Isonoura on Prefectural Route 7″

By supplying energy at Wakayama Ramen, we aim to become Wakayama 8km ahead.

Kinokawa Cycling Road

It runs a little way along the Kinokawa Cycling Road.

The direction you are aiming at is the direction that crosses the bridge in front of your eyes, so you will run on the road on the upper side of the bank.

Wakaura, a scenic spot, which was also included in the Manyoshu (Collection of Ten Thousand Leaves)

Waka-ura (Waka-ura) is a scenic area of the Kii Suido in the southern part of Wakayama City (also written as Waka-ura). It is divided into three districts: Old Wakaura, New Wakaura, and Oku Wakaura.

To Oku Wakaura, where Saigazaki was, where I had never dared to pass. Up on a (difficult) hill, I was in a landscape.

It’s a landscape that looks like it was taken with a drone.

It was followed by the former Wakaura. It is an inlet surrounded by the spit of Kataonami, and is a scenic spot with views of the Edo period and Furo-bashi Bridge. It is also famous as a swimming beach.

Hamanomiya Beach

From Kataonami to the final destination Marina City. When I was heading by car, I was passing through National Route 42, but for the first time, I am driving along a prefectural road along the sea.

Apart from the roadway, there was a wide-area dedicated to bicycles and pedestrians along the coast. Very comfortable! And the beach of Hamanomiya appears along the road. Like this road, this beach is the first time.

Crossing this bridge is Wakayama Marina City.

Wakayama Marina City

Marina City, visited for the first time in decades.
Wakayama Marina City is an artificial island in Wakayama Bay off the coast of Kemi, Wakayama City, created by Matsushita Kosan to coincide with the World Resort Exposition held in 1994.
A modern and stylish landscape spreads all at once.

“The bicycle parking lot also includes the character of “”Wakayama, Kingdom of Cycling.”””

Kuroshio Market, a tuna theme park in Marina City

The “Kino-kuni Fruit Village” on the other side has many fresh fruit and sweets!

“The theme park “”Porto Europe”” was free of admission, so I was free to take a walk.”

“And sweats at “”Kishu Kuroshio Onsen.””” I can’t take pictures, but I can see the sea from the open air bath!

A soft ice cream with plenty of Wakayama mandarin oranges on the bath.

Sunset at Hamanomiya beach

Originally, I was going to finish the bath, but the sunset looks pretty, so I went to Hamanomiya again after taking a bath.

The end of the cycling was uncomfortable salty and beautiful sunset.

Summary

This course is about 37km along the coast.

I was going to go around a nostalgic place, but there are many new discoveries unique to bicycles. I realized anew that it is the fun unique to bicycles to be able to go anywhere you don’t dare to go with cars.

Why don’t you go to the place you used to go and find something new on your bicycle?
